The sleep helps her rebuild her energy, lets her mind settle into something a little more part of this world. Very little can wake her from it-- and in the past, people have tried.
But eventually she does wake up again, has to deal with a world as new and unfamiliar as though she'd slept for a hundred years and was only just now reawakening to reality-- for given definitions of the word, of course.
And it's funny, really, because even though The Gingerbread Man was one of her favourite tales that Fredrick used to tell her, Sleeping Beauty really is one of the ones that suits her best.
